Project Management Principles for Organizational Success

When we enter an organization—whether public or private, manufacturing-based or project-oriented—if we feel that the organization has effective project management, is functioning well, and every individual is performing their duties with enthusiasm to contribute to the organization’s success, the first thought that comes to mind is:

This organization has outstanding project management!
If only we could replicate this manager across other organizations.
What are the management principles that lead to such success despite current economic and social challenges?

The Importance of Discovering Successful Management Principles

These questions lead us toward uncovering the essential principles of effective organizational management. According to the Pareto Principle, just 20% of these principles may lead to 80% of the organization’s productivity. Therefore, identifying these core principles can help managers achieve maximum impact with minimal resources.

Differences in Management Across Various Organizations

When comparing public and private organizations, management in the private sector is often more complex. This is because public organizations benefit from a unique “state power card,” temporarily entrusted to their managers. On the other hand, private-sector managers must rely solely on their skills and competencies to enhance organizational performance.

Additionally, when comparing manufacturing organizations (like factories with defined outputs) to project-oriented ones (such as power plants or infrastructure projects), project management in the latter is significantly more complex. The reason is that each project is unique and filled with varying factors, which requires flexible and customized management approaches.

Applying Management Principles in Different Contexts

If implemented correctly, these project management principles can be adapted and applied in various settings. For instance, a principle proven effective in a private project may also work in a public-sector factory. Consequently, this proves the flexibility and efficiency of such principles. In other words, understanding these principles empowers managers to make better decisions and overcome challenges more effectively.
